Prohibit PARCC as High School Graduation Requirement

The Legislation reads:

AN ACT concerning high school graduation proficiency tests and supplementing P.L.1979, c.241 (C.18A:7C-1 et seq.).

BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

1. a. As used in this section, “PARCC assessment” means the assessments developed by the consortium of states known as the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers.
b. Notwithstanding the provisions of P.L.1979, c.241 (C.18A:7C-1 et seq.) to the contrary, during the 2015-2016 through 2017-2018 school years, the Commissioner of Education shall not use any PARCC assessment, or any standardized assessment not developed by the State or by an entity under a contract with the State, as the State graduation proficiency test.

2. This act shall take effect immediately.
